Kevin Moore recently joined Centrifuge Media as the video production manager. We asked Kevin a few questions after giving him some time to settle into his role!
Q: What is your path to Centrifuge Media?
A: My path to Centrifuge Media is one that kind of started when the pandemic was in full effect. My wife and I were living in California. Being originally from North Carolina, we were excited when my wife’s employer gave her an opportunity to transfer to Raleigh. When we got back here, I really made it a goal to stay in event services and event media production, because that’s what I was doing in California, and I absolutely love it. I love being on-site. I love the energy of live event production. It’s just a blast.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in your role?
A: I think the thing that I’m looking forward to the most about my role here at Centrifuge Media is bringing in a new spin to opening videos, and closing videos, really making it something that people are excited to watch and want to even share after they’ve left the meeting. I’ve done work from everything on the studio feature films to music videos, corporate events, and a lot of live music production. So I’m looking forward to telling stories in a different and unique way for our clients.
Q: You can offer a client one piece of advice when you start planning a Video Project. What is it?
A: There are thousands of videos that exist and get produced each year. If I can give advice or one kind of thing to keep in mind at a high level to one of our clients is that instead of following a trend, set a trend. Go in a different path and everyone else is gone and you’ll stand out from the crowd.
Q: What has kept you in the Video Production industry?
A: So, I’ve been in video production for 16 years now as a paid professional. I started at this a long time before that when I was still in school. I think the thing that keeps me motivated and wanting to stay in this field is telling stories that haven’t been told yet. Everyone has a story from the person that you live next to, to your grandparents, to your significant other, to the guy who works at the gas station down the street. And that’s really what it’s all about for me, is telling unique and special stories.
Q: When you aren’t filming, what do you like to do in your free time?
A: If I’m not behind the camera or sitting in our edit bay working on the next cut, you can find me on a mountain. Whether it’s summertime or wintertime, I’m either on my bike or on my skis and enjoying just being outdoors.
Q: Film or digital?
A: Film or digital? Well, I’ve worked with both mediums in my 16 years. I have to say, when digital came into the motion picture world, it completely revolutionized things and made things faster, and more flexible. It allowed for different shooting styles and different types of shots to be created. Film’s cool. It’s nostalgic. Yeah. I still have a film camera around, but at the end of the day, I can probably get you that same film look with a couple of really nice filters, and a good color grade with a digital image.
